Home Sweet Home

I live in the semi arid desert region of West Texas called the Permian Basin. A road trip through our part of the country offers amazing views of the sky – bright golden sunrises and watercolor sunsets so immense that they take your breath away. The land is incredibly flat and sprinkled with mesquite trees, cactus and the occasional wild flower. Breaking the monotony of the landscape, oil wells, pump jacks and wind turbines accent the horizon. Cattle ranches spread far and wide sharing the natural resources that West Texas offers. The birthplace of a U. S. President and the home of "Friday Night Lights," Odessa offers a beauty all it's own. It is a good place to build a life.

THE TRAIN TRACKS LEADING NOWHERE

Steve and I found this beautiful site near Llano, Texas on our Hill Country Wildflower Safari, 2010. He was brave enough to jump the fence of a ranch to get the shot that I wanted. Thankfully, he wasn't SHOT getting the SHOT! He got back over the fence and into the van just in the nick of time. A DPS officer drove by as he started up the car. These flower chasers really live on the edge!! Bluebonnets were everywhere in this area, but seeing them surrounding the retired tracks told such a story to me. Just like these tracks to nowhere, I am feeling the need to retire. I can't wait to see the beauty that new life brings me just beyond retirement. It looks scary now, but I know that spring is coming.
